Just 30 minutes from Gunnedah and 45 minutes from Tamworth, Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre is relaxing with wide-open spaces, the serene waters of Lake Keepit and endless skies. This rural retreat is surrounded by pastoral and timber country and is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

Activities

A great inclusive activity where participants can try a range of wheelchair sports like basketball or frisbee, or a variety of adaptive sports like goal ball.

Participants learn the art of using a bow and target arrows, all in a safe environment. 

A new and fun dodgeball style strategy-based game. players aim to score points a variety of ways using soft tipped arrows.

Participants jump on their bikes and learn about bike safety whilst exploring exciting tracks / courses around the centre.

Participants get to work on their mountain biking skills as they get to try out new tracks / trails in a controlled and safe environment.

Discover the native flora and fauna, as well as the local history, while everyone walks through the natural environment of the Centre.

Participants get to experience an introduction to camping, including an overnight stay in tents, and cooking meals outdoors. Tents and cooking items provided.

Using single blade paddles, participants paddle in 2 or 3 seated canoes around the local waterways.

A great teamwork activity where groups build and light a campfire and cook some authentic damper.

A fantastic teamwork activity where groups come together to cook in the great outdoors.  Our catering team will provide the fresh, nutritious ingredients and it’s up to you to make the feast for everyone to enjoy.

This fun activity is similar to traditional golf but uses a frisbee rather than clubs and a ball.  

Participants are taught the basic skills of fishing and sustainability as they learn how to cast, bait and tie hooks.

A digital scavenger hunt. Using tablets, participants navigate around the Centre, completing different challenges and tasks, gaining points for their team. All photos and videos are sent back to the organiser to score.

A series of tailored challenges set to teams or individuals to successfully work through.

Participants use double-bladed paddles to manoeuvre and control their single or 2 seated craft as they traverse the waterways.

Participants work their way through the obstacle course together. During the warmer months, there are multiple mud elements for teams to manoeuvre their way through.

Participants learn basic navigation skills as groups work together to find their way around the centre.

Come summer, a frenzy of games are hosted in the swimming pool provide a great occasion for participants to cool off and have fun.

A water-based team activity where participants are given equipment to build a raft.  

Participants are taught about the basics of sailing including rigging and learning to understand the weather.

Participants take turns to slide down a wet and soapy tarpaulin.

Participants stand up on a large board and use a paddle to move through the water.

Participants learn vital skills for survival in the bush, including but not limited to shelter building and fire building.

A fun teamwork activity where groups race around the centre to complete a variety of physical, mental and social challenges.

Learn and experience aspects of Indigenous games, sports and culture. This activity includes boomerang throwing,

Participants are put through a series of team building initiatives on the water.

Accommodation

Our centre can sleep up to 181 guests.

Our catered dormitory-style lodge accommodation comes in a variety of configurations. Some lodges have a kitchen and bathrooms, others share a communal shower block. We can also accommodate people with a disability.
