The “green grid” criss-crosses the region, allowing residents to connect to a network of open space, natural areas and recreational facilities. Tourism and recreation have become mainstays of the region’s economy.

Hunter

The Hunter region with its growing metropolitan area, vibrant centres, towns and villages, excellent transport networks and extensive green grid of open space and recreational facilities is a great place to play sport and be active.

North Coast

The North Coast region with its spectacular coastline, sub-tropical climate, and myriad of lifestyles – rural, coastal, bohemian and cosmopolitan, linked by the Pacific Highway is a great place to play sport and be active. The North Coast region is also host to Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation Centre.
