Kings Langley Cricket Club has officially taken receipt of its new $1.5 million pavilion at Pearce Reserve following an official opening today.
The project, which was funded in partnership by the NSW Government's ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Cricket Legacy Fund, Kings Langley Cricket Club and Blacktown City Council, includes female change rooms, public toilets, increased storage and a public viewing area.
The NSW ICC T20 World Cup Legacy Fund is delivering $6 million to cricket clubs and councils to support the growth in cricket participation in NSW and ensure a lasting legacy from the women's and men's T20 World Cups.
Acting Minister for Sport Kevin Anderson said the project was a great example of how the NSW ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Cricket Legacy Fund is benefiting grassroots cricket across NSW.
"The NSW Government has provided $6 million to Clubs and Councils to support more than 200 projects across NSW and we're proud to see the positive impact on cricket," Mr Anderson said.
"This project will benefit all levels of cricket in western Sydney and also encourage players of all abilities to strap on the pads or bowl an over."
Member for Seven Hills Mark Taylor said the new pavilion would make Pearce Reserve one of the leading community cricket facilities in western Sydney.
"Western Sydney is a cricketing powerhouse and the new pavilion's facilities at Pearce Reserve will ensure the region produces the State's best cricketers and help local players to continue to dream of wearing the baggy green or baggy blue," Mr Taylor added.
Cricket NSW Chief Executive Officer Lee Germon said the new facility will help to foster the love of cricket and increase participation across the broader community.
'We sincerely thank everyone involved in bringing this project to fruition", Mr Germon said.
"These facilities have been made possible with a partnership approach to funding and we're delighted to have delivered this project with the NSW ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Legacy Fund, Cricket Australia via the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund, and the cricket community."
ICC T20 World Cup Acting CEO Michelle Enright is thrilled the new facility will have a positive impact for cricket and the community.
"The Local Organising Committee is delighted to be working in partnership with the NSW Government and Cricket NSW to ensure that hosting two ICC T20 World Cups in Australia has a lasting positive impact," Ms Enright said.
'We are thrilled that the Legacy Fund has assisted with the construction of the new facility for Kings Langley Cricket Club which will benefit the community well in to the future."
