The NSW Government is teaming up with Creative Community Concepts, Kit Bag for Kids, MALO Republic and Black Dog Institute to deliver the Far West Active Fest for children and adults living in communities across the region this March.
Children will be able to participate in a variety of free activities including a colour run, mini triathlon and mini obstacle course with all kids receiving free training gear and the chance to win giveaways throughout the day.
The Black Dog Institute will also be on hand delivering mental health workshops for adults and children with former NRL player, Nathan Blacklock under the theme Act, Belong, Commit.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said Far West Active Fest was a fun and exciting opportunity for kids. “It’s great to see so many fantastic organisations coming together to deliver this event to our local communities,” Mr Saunders said.
“Along with the activities and free sports gear, the Black Dog Institute’s Act, Belong, Commit program is a great initiative for both kids and adults to keep mentally healthy and enjoy life more.”
Far West Active Fest will be held at eight locations throughout March with events at Wilcannia (8 March), Broken Hill (9 March), Menindee (10 March), Collarenebri (23 March), Lightning Ridge (24 March), Walgett (25 March), Brewarrina (29 March) and Bourke (30 March).
Activities start at 4pm with the Act, Belong, Commit program running from 6-7:30pm.
