Mr Crouch said despite 2020 being a challenging year for sport due to COVID-19, there were a number of fantastic achievements by local athletes.
“The pandemic caused massive economic and social disruption across the Central Coast, and sport was not immune,” Mr Crouch said.
“To their credit local sportspeople, coaches and clubs have continued to achieve fantastic results – both on and off the field.
“Narara-based Moguls Skier Matt Graham took out the ‘Sportsperson of the Year’ award, having finished 2020 ranked third in the world following an equal first in the World Cup event in Sweden, as well as numerous top six finishes throughout the snow season.
“I congratulate all 10 award winners who have proven again that our region is a sporting powerhouse.”
The Central Coast Sports Awards recognise the achievements of athletes, volunteers and officials across 10 categories.
In recognition of innovative thinking throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the “Active Recreation Initiative or Event of the Year Award” category was expanded this year to include virtual initiatives or events.
