Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said the two-year Fund will invest in new or upgraded multi-sport facilities, providing more opportunities for people to play sport in their local community and be healthy and active.
“The Fund is another key initiative of the NSW Government’s state-wide sports infrastructure plan, which is creating a sports facility construction boom and thousands of jobs as the economy bounces back from the impacts of COVID-19,” Mr Perrottet said.
The Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund will offer funding through a competitive grants process which will require a minimum co-contribution from applicants with $100 million available in 2021-22 and $100 million available in 2022-23.
Minister for Sport Natalie Ward said the Fund will focus on inclusive and accessible facilities that meets the needs of females and people with disability.
“Breaking down barriers to participation for females and people with disability is a NSW Government priority,” Mrs Ward said.
“With thousands of sporting clubs and associations across NSW, the Fund will see more inclusive, fit-for-purpose facilities built across the State.
“This will enable more people to enjoy the benefits of playing sport, regardless of their age, gender or ability.”
The Fund complements the NSW Government’s $100 million Greater Cities and Regional Sports Facility Fund which invests in new and existing sports infrastructure.
