First Lap

Since December 2021, 339,000 First Lap vouchers were redeemed, contributing more than $30 million towards the cost of swimming lessons and water safety classes to pre-school children. The last vouchers to be released expired on 30 June 2024.

The Government has made changes to the First Lap program which will see the development of a new $6 million program, spread across two years, targeting communities at the highest risk of drowning. 
 
The new program will see the NSW Government partner with industry to provide swimming lessons to children and adults from communities to ensure our most at risk are safe around the water. The details of this program are yet to be developed.
