Funding For New Nets A Win For Epping Bulls Junior Cricket Club

March 2017

Epping Bulls Junior Cricket Club is set to benefit from brand new cricket nets to be installed thanks to a $15,900 NSW Government funded local sporting grant.

Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres joined Member for Epping Damien Tudehope and Juniors Club President Derek Macarthy at Ron Payne Oval to award the grant which will benefit more than 200 local players at the growing club.

“Local clubs like Epping Bulls help to grow grassroots sport, unite communities and encourage healthier lifestyles of our young people,” Mr Ayres said.

“We congratulate the Bulls on their successful grant application, part $3.5 million funding invested in 650 local sport projects across the state.”

Member for Epping Damien Tudehope said local sporting grants allow clubs like Epping Bulls to continue providing a quality service to their members.

“The Epping Bulls Junior Cricket Club plays an incredibly important role in bringing our community together and this $15,900 grant will provide new cricket nets for junior players to train,” Mr Tudehope said.

Juniors President Derek Macarthy said Epping Bulls Junior Cricket has increased its members by more than fifty per cent in the last two years with more than 180 junior players and more than 50 players in the 5-8 year old Milo program. “With the increased population in the Epping area and growing demands on sporting fields, the improvements to this facility will provide a great community asset that can be used not only by the cricket club, but by schools and the community." "The Epping Bulls are looking to expand next year with the growth of women's cricket, and this will give us another great sporting venue in the area to cater for our growing needs." "Improving community facilities to meet the needs of our club and the community would not be possible without us working together with the State and local Council."

Other local sport grants awarded in the Epping electorate include Beecroft Lawn Tennis club to upgrade the surface of the two tennis courts, Pennant Hills Netball Club for new equipment.
