Media release: Commando Steve leads family friendly obstacle course

July 2017

One of Australia’s most recognised and respected Fitness Experts Commando Steve, will be cheering on participants at the Office of Sport’s annual outdoor obstacle course across the five-kilometre tough terrain complete with mud pits, challenging obstacles and initiative tasks.

The ‘Keepit Commando’ event is held at the Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre and provides a fun and challenging day out for all ages and abilities.

Office of Sport Chief Executive, Matt Miller, said he was excited to have event ambassador Commando Steve Willis, one of Australia’s most respected personal trainers, on board to lead the groups through the course.

“The event is open to all on Sunday, 13 August from 10am to 2pm and provides an excellent value for money, fun day out.

“Whether you’re just after some good old muddy fun or prefer more serious competition, this is a great opportunity to get active with family and friends.

“This opportunity won’t be available again until next year - we are hoping to get over 220 participants through the course,” Mr Miller said.

Commando Steve incorporates his ex-military skills with the principles of CrossFit to form his own individual style of CrossFit training and will cheer on participants through the course, as well as within his Commando Kids training session.

Commando Steve Willis said he was excited to be the Ambassador for the Keepit Kommando adventure race.

“I'll be there running a Commando Kids session on the day of the event for everyone, from little tackers to mum and dad. Come on down and join in the excitement, work up a sweat and most importantly have fun in the outdoors”.

The training session will include functional training style movements, and most importantly create a fun day out for everyone involved.
