The year has kicked off with a range of exciting programs taking place across the state at the Office’s Sport and Recreation Centres.
January saw a diverse range of programs for the team at Myuna Bay as they played host to the NSW Peewee ice hockey team and Hillsong Church for their annual Youth Summer Camp. The friendly staff ensured the hockey team was well taken care of with comfortable accommodation, nutritious food, and access to premier sporting facilities while they trained and participated in trials for the Australian team.
Point Wolstoncroft Sport and Recreation Centre claimed the longest standing booking in any Centre’s history with the annual Estonian Summer Camp back for its 58th year. Since 1960, campers have travelled from all over Australia to come together and enjoy a fun-filled week of sporting and cultural activities, and this year saw third and fourth generation Estonian families gathered at the Centre.
Sydney Academy joined the Sydney 7s action, with multiple Rugby 7s squads training and playing at the Centre. Japan, Ireland, Canada, France and Australian teams utilised the world-class sports facilities, giving squads the chance to undertake intensive sports training while enjoying the resources at the facility.
