Everyone has a role to play in keeping kids safe in sport. Creating the right environment is vital. The Office of Sport will host a free workshop on Monday, 2 September at Scone on how to create safer sporting environments for children and young people.
The Child Safe Sport workshop provides committees, administrators and volunteers with practical ways to be more child safe.
The workshop will introduce a range of child safe resources, tools and templates and will also provide a refresher on Working with Children Check responsibilities.
One local organisation that has attended Office of Sport sports integrity workshops in the past is Strikers Softball Club from Newcastle who recently placed first nationally in Softball Australia’s Homeplate rankings after some tremendous membership growth in recent years.
Thanks to the Strikers efforts in creating a positive environment both on and off field, their membership has grown.
If you’d like your sporting organisation to be like the Strikers in creating a safer sporting environment for children and young people, register for our Child Safe Workshop at Scone.
The workshop will be held at Upper Hunter Shire Council Chambers, Corner Liverpool and Main Streets, Scone. Bookings are essential. Register at https://sport.nsw.gov.au/event/child-safe-sport-workshop-33
