The 2019 Academy Games were held on the weekend of 12–14 April at the Hunter Academy of Sport. The Games brought together 1,300 athletes from 11 Regional Academies of Sport across New South Wales with some outstanding performances from the State’s emerging elite athletes.
The Games featured emerging talented athletes participating in eight sports, basketball, golf, hockey, netball, softball, AFL, tennis and triathlon.
Stand out performances at this year’s games included a double-header win for Central Coast in both girl’s and boy’s basketball tournaments, the host academy, Hunter, taking out the boy’s hockey tournament and a strong Merit Team named in both Division 1 and 2 at the netball tournament.
Another highlight of this year’s games was an exhibition para-sport match of wheelchair basketball supported by Wheelchair NSW and Sport NSW.
Full results from the tournament can be found on the Academy Games website.
The Office of Sport supports the Games through a three-year, $7.5 million investment in regional academies and regional youth athlete development programs across the state.
