The National Electric Wheelchair Games were held at the Sydney Academy of Sport in mid-April with some amazing performances during the event.
Australia’s premier sporting competition for people with neuromuscular conditions needing to use electric wheelchairs for everyday mobility featured modified versions of soccer, volleyball, hockey and rugby league.
The event was officially opened by the Governor of New South Wales, His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret'd) and included a pick-up game of wheelchair rugby league between athletes, Manly Sea Eagles NRL players and their coach Des Hasler who are based at the Academy.
The Sydney Academy of Sport is the only venue in Australia capable of hosting the games and catering for the special needs of the athletes and carers.
Congratulations to all the athletes that participated in the event.
