The Office of Sport’s Southern Region delivers a range of services and initiatives designed to enhance sport and recreation in Southern NSW.

With offices in the Riverina Murray, Illawara Shoalhaven and South East and Tablelands, we work with the industry to facilitate best practice and cultivate greater capacity for sport and recreation in the community.

Far West

The Far West region plays host to a strong culture of town-based sporting rivalries. The remoteness, coupled with mining and agricultural history has resulted in the development of unique towns and villages, each with their own sporting traditions. Against a vast outback setting, amongst some of the most environmentally diverse landscapes in the world, the people of the Far West are passionate about their local sporting heroes and teams.

The vision for the Far West region is for widely accessible, community driven sport and active recreation that futureproofs and achieves long-term success through the development of valued partnerships and capacity.

New England and North West

The New England & North West region with its “big sky” country that encompasses the cool temperate tablelands of the Great Dividing Range to the western slopes and plains, its nature-based activities, strong education sector and well connected communities is a great place to play sport and be active.

The vision for sport and recreation in New England the North West is for high participation in a healthy community, delivered in an accessible way using quality infrastructure.

Central West and Orana

The Central West and Orana region, sitting at the heart of NSW with its vibrant regional cities, historic towns and villages, internationally recognised national parks and expansive river systems and wetlands is a great place to play sport and be active.

The vision for the Central West and Orana region is increased participation, buoyed by collaboration, building capacity in the community and making sport and active recreation accessible to everyone.
