The Office of Sport's Central Region delivers a range of services and initiatives that promote greater participation in sport and recreation across metropolitan Sydney, the Illawarra and South Coast.

With offices in Wollongong and Sydney, we work across multiple platforms to support and build the capacity of sporting clubs and associations and make regular physical activity accessible to all.

Sport development programs are intrinsic to this and include seminars and workshops for clubs and volunteers, sport education and training for coaches, safer sport training and inclusive sport training for people of all abilities.

Community initiatives such as learn to swim programs, walking for pleasure and youth sport are another way we support community participation in sport and recreation.

We also work in partnership with state and local government to strengthen community ties through sports education for coaches, Traditional Indigenous Games training, surf and water safety initiatives and inclusive training for people of all abilities.
